AATD Alpha1-Antitrypsin Deficiency www.alpha1canada.ca

British Columbia and Quebec pays for $100,000/year weekly infusions of PROLASTIN Alpha1-Proteinase Inhibitor for treatment of patients with homozygous ZZ alleles.

TELECRIS Biopharmaceuticals Inc of GRIFOLS S.A. will provide genetic tests of patients with AATD referred by a respirologist.

Epidemiology AATD
80% of those with AATD are undiagnosed
1 in 10 COPD pts have a Z ALLELE ( 10x normal frequency)

Liver disease
Bronchiectasis
Necrotizing panniculitis
Wegener's granulomatosis
