GLASGOW DR. JOHN MONTGOMERIE patented the"Digestive " biscuit in 1886 (UK) USA in 1889.

Called "digestive" because of Sodium bicarbonate in dough. Used brown meal flour high in iron. In USA called Graham cracker. McVitie's a brand of United Biscuits (UK) sell 80-million packets yearly. Each biscuit contains approx  77mg Sodium
