DPM (1954) MRCP (1959) wrote the 56 page INSTITUTIONAL NEUROSIS in 1959 (Third Ed. 1976) started movement of closing Psychiatric hospitals. Dr Barton was Phys.Sup. UK Severalls Hosp, Colchester. Moved to New York State where he was Dir Rochester Psych Center.

Toronto hospitals as open as railway stations. Public are encouraged to use food courts, optician, pharmacy and convenience store. No control over access to patient rooms. Stethoscope " necklace" and a photobadge is "passport".to wards. Florida shooter probably a paranoid schizophrenic. No known reason for shooting those particular persons. More security in OMA office and Business firms; where visitors sign in and out.
