COMMENT; PREVALENCE 40 PER MILLION. AVERAGE NHS GP VISIT 4-5 MINUTES. GOOD RULE OF THUMB ; IF CONDITION NOT IMPROVED IN TWO WEEKS  SEE AN INTERNIST EITHER ON NHS OR PRIVATELY.   BEFORE SOCIALIST NHS THE MAIN  ROLE OF GP WAS TO TREAT THOSE WHO COULD NOT AFFORD A SPECIALIST AND  TO FOLLOW-UP SPECIALIST ORDERS..  NOW IN INTEREST OF ECONOMY NON-PHYSICIANS ARE ALLOWED TO DIAGNOSE AND TREAT SIMILAR TO THE OLD CZARIST FELDSHERS. PRIVATE SPECIALIST CAN GIVE MORE TIME; USUALLY 50 MIN FOR FIRST VISIT. MANY UK PEOPLE HAVE PRIVATE SUPPLEMENTARY INSURANCE ; SUCH AS BUPA.
